Floatation and the brain

Available at Elite Beauty Canterbury

The brain uses a lot of power to deal with the huge strain that gravity places on the body. In a floatation tank, your body is totally supported and you feel weightless. So because there is little for your brain to do, every muscle can fully relax

This will leave you in a dream-like state, similar to that experienced just before you go to sleep. In this state, the brain releases vast amounts of endorphins, a 'feel good' chemical.

This is also the state of mind that Buddhist monks try to reach through hours of meditation and years of training. And you can achieve this in just a few minutes using floatation!

What is floatation?

The floatation tank contains a super-saturated Epsom-salt solution,

This creates an environment similar to that of the Dead Sea, which lets you float effortlessly on the surface of the water and enjoy a feeling of weightlessness!

The salt-water solution is heated to skin temperature (35.5°C).

What they have to say about Elite Floatation

Floatation therapy is such a simple idea that some of the benefits seem too good to be true.

Floating in a flotation therapy tank is even more relaxing. The deep relaxation state achieved allows the body to recover from stress. Pain is relieved. Blood flow is stimulated through all the tissues, natural endorphins are released, the brain gives out alpha waves associated with relaxation and meditation. It feels good.

Usually it takes perhaps 15 minutes to enter the first deep stage of relaxation, and the remaining 45 minutes of a typical hour-long session seem to pass quickly and effortlessly. The benefits begin during this stage but continue after you leave the tank and for the rest of the day, and the next day, your body and mind feel refreshed.
